How to apply Ximelin: instructions and reviews

Ximelin is a local vasoconstrictor drug that is used for ENT diseases.

Xymelin is indicated not only for the therapy of rhinitis (a synonym for the common cold in medical terminology) and its complications (sinusitis, eustachitis, etc.), but also applies in the case when the sinusitis is not amenable to treatment by therapeutic methods and the patient needs a puncture of the maxillary sinus.

When preparing the patient for this manipulation, ENT doctors use Ximelin to relieve the swelling of the sinuses of the nose, thereby facilitating access to the puncture site. In addition, in otorhinolaryngology, the drug is prescribed for the treatment of otitis media, one of the main symptoms of which is edema of the nasopharynx.

Pharmacological effect

Pharmacological properties of Xymelyn (spray and drops in the nose) are due to the ability of the active substance Xylometazoline to activate the receptors of epinephrine, causing local narrowing vessels: the drug affects the surface vessels of the nasal mucosa, with which it comes into contact, practically not penetrating into the internal environment of the body - blood and lymph.

Due to the vasoconstrictive effect of Ximelin, there are such phenomena of the common cold as swelling of the mucosa and hypersecretion of the liquid. Effect of drops or spray of the drug - almost instantaneous and very persistent (stored for 8-12 hours depending on the composition). As a result, the patient normalizes breathing, inflammation disappears (hyperemia, puffiness), the general condition improves.

Reviews

We picked up some responses from people taking Ximelin:

  1. Gulwira. About 6 years suffered from stuffiness of the nose, NAFTIZIN dripped into the nose every day, helped only at the time, was disturbed sleep, underwent examination, did not have maxillary sinusitis, spent a lot of money on stuffiness, but nothing helped. Bronchial asthma, horror... .. But literally 1 week ago the doctor prescribed me Xemilin, and you know I do not want to jinx, but I BREATH... .and live.... and there is no stuffiness...... I drip only for the night. Xemilin thank you... .. !!!!!!!!!
  2. Masha. The nose pierces at times. I'm so easy from him breathe! But I so sat on it that as soon as the bubble was finished, immediately bought the next one. It turned out that I have an allergy, in the form of chronic nasal congestion and the allergist said that ximilinus can not be used for so long. And what she ordered me, such an effect, like ximelin, does not give me.
  3. Marina. This remedy is permissible only with a very strong cold. And you can use it only 2-3 days. I sat on Ximelin very much, and, most importantly, discreetly. Without him, I was already afraid to go out into the street. As soon as she found out that she forgot to put it in her bag, she immediately panicked and started looking for the nearest pharmacy or returning home. Then I realized that this was not normal. I went to the LOR. He ordered me to endure for several days, they say, everything will be restored. These few days spilled into an agonizing week. But, thankful to the side, the mucosa gradually recovered, the breathing normalized. I will never use these filthy things again!
