It has antiseptic and antiallergic effect, removes symptoms of eye irritation, eliminates edema of the mucous membrane of the eye.

The zinc sulphate, which enters the body, removes swelling and inflammation. Diphenhydramine hydrochloride reduces the permeability of the capillary walls, thereby protecting against allergic reactions. Naphazoline hydrochloride narrows the blood vessels, eliminates the overflow of their blood.

This drug is used for eye irritation, which is accompanied by itching, discharge of fluid from the lacrimal canal, reduces the symptoms of conjunctivitis.

Issue Okumil in the form of drops of the eye: blue clear liquid (in plastic bottles-droppers of 5 or 10 ml, 1 bottle in a pack of cardboard).

Pharmacological effect

Okumil - combined preparation, which is an aqueous solution of zinc sulfate with diphenhydramine hydrochloride and naphazoline hydrochloride for topical application in ophthalmology.

Diphenhydramine hydrochloride - selectively blocks H1-histamine receptors, reduces edema, removes allergic manifestations.
Zinc sulphate has a local anti-inflammatory, anti-edematous and antiseptic effect.
Nafazoline refers to sympathomimetics, has a vasoconstrictive effect, eliminates flushing and swelling of the mucous eye.

Due to a combination of these components Okumetin has anti-inflammatory effect, reduces symptoms of irritation and discomfort of the eyes, allergic manifestations.

After instillation, the drug is absorbed into the systemic circulation.

Indications for use

The drug Okumetil can be prescribed for the treatment of such diseases as:

Blepharoconjunctivitis and conjunctivitis of allergic origin;
Chronic form of nonspecific conjunctivitis and blepharoconjunctivitis;
Irritation of the eye tissue, for example, sensation of "speck" in the eye, redness, itching.

Contraindications

Dosage and route of administration

Side effects

Drug Interactions

Ocumethyl should not be applied concomitantly with MAO inhibitors and within 10 days after discontinuation of their intake. As a result of the joint application of beta-blockers, MAO inhibitors with adrenomimetics, the effect of the latter increases.
Since it is possible to reduce the effects of diphenhydramine and medications that stimulate the central nervous system, the use of Okumetil in patients using these drugs is not recommended.
Zinc sulfate is pharmaceutically incompatible with salts of silver, lead, quinine, ichthyol, citral, protargol, alkaline-reacting substances.
Nafazolin slows the absorption of local anesthetics, therefore it is not recommended to use the drug Ocumethyl together with local anesthetics used in ophthalmology.
