Tsereton is a nootropic drug that is used to restore the functional activity of nerve cells in the brain.

It is the source of choline, a substance that participates in the production of the most important CNS mediator of acetylcholine and ensures the normal course of metabolic reactions in the brain. The action of Cereton is due to the features of the active component - choline alfoscerate. The drug supplies choline to the central nervous system, where it is used to produce acetylcholine (a substance that provides nerve impulses) and phosphatidylcholine (a component of the cell membrane).

As a result, the speed of impulses between neurons improves, the elasticity of the cell wall increases, the cells of the brain and the functions of damaged receptors are restored.

Composition 1 capsule Cereton:

  • active substance: choline alfoscerate - 400 mg (in terms of 100% substance);
  • auxiliary components: glycerol - 50 mg; purified water - in sufficient quantity to obtain a content weight of 590 mg;
  • shell: propyl parahydroxybenzoate, gelatin, glycerol, sorbitol, methyl parahydroxybenzoate, titanium dioxide, iron oxide yellow dye, purified water.

Composition 1 ml of solution Cereton:

  • active substance: anhydrous choline alphoscerate 250 mg (as a choline alfoscerate polyhydrate);
  • auxiliary component: water for injection - up to 1 ml.

Pharmacological effect

Tsereton belongs to the number of nootropic drugs. It is a holinomimetic of the central action, which includes 40.5% of the metabolically protected choline.

Metabolic protection promotes the release of choline in the brain. The drug positively influences the behavioral and cognitive responses of patients with cerebrovascular diseases (dyscirculatory encephalopathy, residual phenomena of cerebral circulation disorders), promotes regression of focal neurological symptoms and recovery consciousness, prophylactically and correctly corrects the pathogenetic factors of the involutional psycho-organic syndrome.

Other effects of Cereton:

  • changes in the phospholipid composition of neuronal membranes and a decrease in cholinergic activity;
  • stimulation of dose-dependent release of acetylcholine under physiological conditions;
  • providing synthesis of phosphatidylcholine and acetylcholine in neuronal membranes;
  • improvement of blood flow and enhancement of metabolic processes in the central nervous system;
  • activation of the reticular formation;
  • an increase in the linear velocity of blood flow on the side of traumatic brain injury;
  • normalization of spatiotemporal characteristics of spontaneous bioelectric activity of the brain;
  • improvement of synaptic transmission, plasticity of neuronal membranes, receptor function (due to participation in the synthesis of phosphatidylcholine - membrane phospholipid).

Does not affect the reproductive cycle and does not have mutagenic and teratogenic effects.

Indications for use

Indications for the application of Cereton are:

Gliatilin or Tsereton - which is better?

When choosing a medicine, especially nootropics, it is important to be guided not only by instructions for use, but first of all by the recommendations of the attending physician.

If you compare two representatives of one pharmacological group - Tsereton and Gliatilin, the first medication is cheaper, and many doctors reproach him for mediocre action in the body. Assign it, because it is inexpensive, helps cure the disease when used intravenously. The cost of the original - Gliatilina is an order of magnitude higher, and the therapeutic effect is not in any doubt.
