Ursosan is a hepatoprotective drug with choleretic and cholelitholytic action.

Ursosan tablets contain ursodeoxycholic acid. In a small amount, it is contained in bile. This substance is necessary in the body to lower the synthesis in the liver of cholesterol, as well as its absorption in the gastrointestinal tract. Due to the interaction of acid with cholesterol dissolve cholesterol stones, decreases the lithogenicity of bile, the cholate cholesterol index decreases.

By replacing toxic bile acids with non-toxic ursodeoxycholic acid, this drug has its therapeutic effect in the body. In this case, the agent improves the secretory capacity of hepatocytes and stimulates the action of the immune system processes.

Pharmacological effect

The main active substance is ursodeoxycholic acid. Among the components of Ursosan, there is also magnesium, gelatin, corn starch and silicon. The main therapeutic effect of the drug comes from the acid.

It has the following properties:

  • destruction of stone structures from cholesterol;
  • improvement of immunity;
  • elimination of bitter taste in the mouth;
  • choleretic effect;
  • restoration of the structure of the liver;
  • struggle with stagnation of bile;
  • prevention of the appearance of stones;
  • opposition to organ degeneration;
  • decrease in AST and ALT, the level of which increased with fatty hepatosis or hepatitis;
  • decrease cholesterol.

Ursodeoxycholic acid is classified as a polar component, so it can attract nonpolar (bile acid or cholesterol), i.e. the drug collects excess acid, eliminates its toxic effect and forms micelles. This allows to favorably influence the metabolic process of bile, which enters the intestine, is absorbed by the blood flow and again enters the liver.

Ursosan reduces the amount of harmful substances absorbed by the stomach, increases the secretion of bile and eliminates the bitter sensation in the mouth. As a result, the biliary passage is normalized, the toxic effect and acid stagnation are eliminated, AST and ALT are reduced. As a result of the interaction of bile with the phospholipids of the cell membrane, molecules with a complex composition are formed, which are the basis of the cell wall. This protects cells from the adverse effects of radicals.

With the regular use of Ursosan, the following changes occur:

  • decreased production of cholesterol;
  • improves the dissolution of cholesterol in the blood, resulting in a reduced risk of developing stones;
  • the immune system is stimulated.

The drug is also used to stop the development of fibrosis, slow the aging, prevent varicose veins of the esophagus and maintain liver activity. For prophylactic purposes, the agent is prescribed to reduce the likelihood of oncology of the colon.

Indications for use

This medication is indispensable for the need for non-surgical removal of gallstones. The instruction to Ursosan reports that one of the indications for the use of UDCA is the prevention of re-formation of stones after cholecystectomy. The drug is included in the accompanying therapy of cancer.

special instructions

With prolonged use of the drug to dissolve gallstones every 4 weeks in the first 3 months of treatment, in the future - every 3 months, a biochemical blood test should be performed to determine the activity of hepatic transaminases. Control of the effectiveness of treatment should be carried out every 6 months according to ultrasound of the gallbladder, bile ducts.

The use of the drug for the purpose of dissolution of gallstones is possible if the following conditions are met: the stones should be cholesterol (X-ray negative), their size - not more than 15-20 mm, a functioning gallbladder with a preserved permeability of the vesicle and common bile duct, is filled with gallstones no more than half.

After complete dissolution of the stones, it is recommended that the drug be continued for 3 months in order to promote dissolution of the remains of stones, the sizes of which are too small for their detection, and with the aim of preventing the recurrence of stone formation.

Compatibility with other drugs

In some cases ursodeoxycholic acid can reduce the absorption of ciprofloxacin.

Ursodeoxycholic acid can increase the absorption of cyclosporine from the intestine, which requires monitoring the concentration of cyclosporine in the blood plasma, and, if necessary, the correction of its dosage regimen.

Do not use the drug simultaneously with antacids containing aluminum, ion-exchange resins (colestyramine, colestipol), since these drugs can reduce the absorption of ursodeoxycholic acid. If necessary, these drugs should be taken 2 hours before or 2 hours after taking UDCA.

Some medications, such as estrogens, progestogens (oral contraceptives), neomycin, clofibrate, can increase cholelithiasis, thus having the opposite effect of the ability of ursodeoxycholic acid to dissolve cholesterol biliary calculi.

Reviews

We suggest you read the reviews of people who used Ursosan:

  1. Paul. I was discharged Ursosan for the dissolution of concrements in the gallbladder. After two months of receiving ultrasound, nothing was found in the gallbladder.
  2. Elena. For a long time I'm trying to get rid of pancreatitis. Drank on the testimony of Ursofalk and many other medicines, but did not feel any effect. In the end I decided to buy Ursosan. Capsules was taken twice a day for about 2 months, as the doctor advised. Against the background of the reception of Ursosana, digestion has improved much, discomfort in the pancreas region has disappeared.
  3. Marina. By appointment, I drank a year. In addition, the courses drank dandelion juice and milk thistle. At the uzi the doctor was dumbfounded, said that if she herself did not make the uzi and pictures to him, she would not have believed it. The gallbladder was one third filled with stones (did ultrasound in three different clinics), and a year later (also checked in different institutions) was clean. I was recommended an operation to remove the gallbladder - and here you have to "hello"! We did not check the composition of the stones, which is risky, but - lucky. In reserve, just in case, I keep LIVELX (a cheaper analog) and do not believe in my happiness. Schrot continue to drink more and more regularly and every summer I drink the juice of a dandelion. All of health!
