  • The active ingredient Indapa is indapamine. Each drug contains 2.5 mg or 1.5 mg of this compound. Also, the contents of the capsules contain additional components in the form of starches, microcrystalline cellulose and silicas and titanium.

In each bundle there are 3 blisters with the drug, and detailed instructions are also attached.

Pharmacological effect

Indap has an antihypertensive effect. At the same time, according to the pharmacological action, it is similar to thiazide type diuretics, since when it is taken it changes absorption of sodium ions in the loop of Geil, and they are excreted from the body with urine to a greater extent. Chloride, magnesium and potassium ions are also derived. There is a selective blocking of calcium channels, which makes it possible to increase the elasticity of the walls of the vessels.

The drug is acceptable for those who have diabetes mellitus, since the active ingredient does not affect the fat and glucose composition of the blood. Indap reduces the susceptibility of the walls of capillaries and vessels to the effect of norepinephrine.

When receiving Indap, the rate of formation of free radicals decreases. With excessive ingestion of the active substance, a marked diuresis can be observed with no effect on the level of pressure reduction. Usually the effect of taking with regular use is reached after 14 days.

Indications for use

What helps these pills? Indap is prescribed for arterial hypertension.

Contraindications

The drug is contraindicated:

  1. Simultaneously with drugs that extend the QT interval;
  2. During pregnancy;
  3. Breastfeeding women;
  4. Children and teenagers under 18;
  5. When hypersensitivity to indipamide, other derivatives of sulfonamides or to any auxiliary component.

In addition, the Indap should not be taken when:

  1. Hypokalemia;
  2. Hepatic insufficiency;
  3. Pronounced renal failure and anuria;
  4. Acute disorders of cerebral circulation;
  5. Intolerance to lactose, galactosemia, glucose / galactose absorption disorder syndrome.

Under special supervision during the treatment should be patients with:

  1. Diseases of the liver;
  2. Ascites;
  3. Mild and moderate chronic renal failure;
  4. Extension of the interval QT;
  5. Chronic heart failure;
  6. Moderate impairment of kidney function;
  7. Diabetes mellitus in the stage of decompensation;
  8. Hyperuricemia, especially if it is accompanied by urate nephrolithiasis and gout;
  9. Hyponatremia and other disorders of water-electrolyte metabolism;
  10. Hyperparathyroidism.

Application in pregnancy and lactation

During pregnancy, diuretics are usually not prescribed to women. The drug in any case can not be used to treat physiological swelling in pregnancy. Diuretics can cause fetoplacental ischemia, which creates a threat to fetal growth.

Indapamide penetrates into the mother's milk, so during the period of taking the drug should stop breastfeeding.

Instructions for use

The instructions for use indicate that the Indap is prescribed inside, in the morning, regardless of food intake. Capsule should be swallowed without chewing, washed down with water.

  • Assign 2.5 mg (1 caps.) 1 time / day.

The drug can be used as a monotherapy or in combination with other antihypertensive agents (with beta-adrenoblockers, slow calcium channel blockers, ACE inhibitors). If after 4-8 weeks of treatment the desired therapeutic effect is not achieved, the dose of the drug should not be increased (the risk of side effects increases without increasing the antihypertensive effect).

Instead, another antihypertensive drug that is not a diuretic should be added to the treatment regimen. In cases where treatment should begin with the reception of 2 drugs, the dose of the drug Indap remains equal to 2.5 mg in the morning 1 time / day.

Side effects

The drug is well tolerated. However, in some cases, side effects are possible:

System of organs Possible unwanted effects
Gastrointestinal tract Lack of appetite, nausea and vomiting, thirst, pain in the upper abdomen, loose stools or constipation, impaired hepatic function
Nervous system Weakness, headache, drowsiness, muscle spasms, irritability, anxiety, sleep disturbance, dizziness, depression
Sense organs Inflammation of the eyes, visual impairment
Respiratory system Coryza, less often cough, sore throat
Heart and blood vessels Decreased pressure when rising from a prone position, disturbance of the heart rhythm
Kidneys Nighttime urination, copious discharge of urine, urinary tract infection
Allergic reaction Skin itching, hives, hemorrhagic vasculitis
Blood Inhibition of hemopoiesis with a decrease in the blood quantity of erythrocytes, leukocytes, platelets
Laboratory data Increase in blood levels of calcium, uric acid, glucose, creatinine and urea; decrease in the concentration of chlorine, sodium, potassium
Other Symptoms that resemble influenza, chest pain, back pain, decreased sexual desire, sweating, weight loss, changes in skin sensitivity, pancreatitis, worsening of lupus erythematosus

Overdose

Symptoms of overdose: nausea, vomiting, weakness, dysfunction of the gastrointestinal tract, water-electrolyte disorders, in some cases - excessive reduction in blood pressure, respiratory depression.

In patients with cirrhosis, the development of hepatic coma is possible.

special instructions

  1. Indapamide may worsen the course of systemic lupus erythematosus.
  2. Indapamide can give a positive result in the conduct of doping control.
  3. Indapamide increases the release of magnesium in the urine, which can lead to hypomagnesemia.
  4. The first measurement of the potassium concentration in the blood should be performed within 1 week of treatment.
  5. Hypercalcemia on the background of taking indapamide may be a consequence of previously undiagnosed hyperparathyroidism.
  6. Indapamide is effective for the treatment of patients with arterial hypertension at risk, i.e. with concomitant pathology (sugar diabetes mild to moderate severity or with chronic renal failure, patients with hyperlipidemia).
  7. When using indapamide, the uric acid and residual nitrogen content in the blood plasma should also be systematically monitored.
  8. Perhaps the appearance of orthostatic hypotension, which can be provoked by alcohol intake, barbiturates, opioid analgesics, and also by other antihypertensive drugs.
  9. In patients with diabetes, it is extremely important to monitor blood glucose levels, especially when hypokalemia is present.
  10. In the case of hypokalemia caused by indapamide, the toxicity of cardiac glycosides may increase. In patients taking cardiac glycosides, laxatives, with hyperaldosteronism, as well as in the elderly, careful monitoring of the potassium and creatinine content is shown.
  11. Significant dehydration can lead to the development of acute renal failure (reduced glomerular filtration). Patients must compensate for the loss of water and at the beginning of treatment carefully monitor the kidney function.
  12. Patients with hypertension and hyponatremia (due to taking diuretics) need to stop 3 days before the start of taking ACE inhibitors taking diuretics (if necessary, taking diuretics can be resumed a little later), or they are prescribed initial low doses of ACE inhibitors.
  13. The most thorough control is indicated in patients with cirrhosis of the liver (especially with edema or ascites - the risk of developing metabolic alkalosis, strengthening manifestations of hepatic encephalopathy), IHD, chronic heart failure, and also in the elderly. Patients with an increased QT interval on the ECG (congenital or developing against a background of a pathological process) also belong to the high-risk group.
  14. With prolonged use of indapamide, electrolyte disturbances can sometimes occur, such as hyponatremia, hypokalemia, hypercalcemia, and hypochloraemic alkalosis. These disorders are more often observed in patients with chronic heart failure, liver disease, with vomiting and diarrhea, as well as in individuals on a salt-free diet, which necessitates the control of blood electrolytes.
  15. Despite the fact that indapamide has virtually no effect on carbohydrate metabolism, in patients with insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus it is possible increasing the necessary dose of insulin, and with latent diabetes it is necessary to monitor blood glucose.

Drug Interactions

The combination of this drug and lithium leads to a toxic effect on the kidneys.

Hypotensive action indapa significantly increases with the parallel administration of neuroleptics and tricyclic antidepressants.

With the simultaneous administration of Indap and ACE inhibitors, it is possible to develop acute renal failure or hypotension.

The combination of this drug with laxatives, cardiac glycosides, tetracosactide and amphotericin can lead to hypokalemia (lack of potassium in the body).

Reviews

We picked up some feedback from people about the drug,

  1. Sasha. I take Indap daily in the mornings for more than a month, the pressure has returned to normal and most importantly, the puffiness has gone down, the weight has decreased. Assigned in connection with heart failure and hypertension. Be healthy!
  2. Artem. I have high blood pressure and diabetes, so my cardiologist prescribed an indap as part of a comprehensive treatment. In my opinion, it is not very powerful, it is rather easy or medium in comparison with other medicines for pressure. But in combination with other drugs, the pressure reduces to comfortable figures. And it is still convenient, that from it almost there is no diuretic effect.
  3. Olga. I have been taking indap for several years now, as I have, in addition to high blood pressure, also diabetes mellitus. Often I hear that there are also stronger medicines, but for my sores suffice. But health in a relative order. Maybe this is auto-suggestion, but I'm not going to look for a fashionable replacement for Indapu.
