Miramistin is an antiseptic drug for local and external use.
It is endowed with a wide spectrum of antibacterial action, including hospital-acquired microbial strains resistant to antibiotics. The drug has a pronounced bactericidal (disastrous for bacteria) effect on gram-positive (Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp.) and Gram-negative (Escherichia coli, Klebsiella spp., Pseudomonas aeruginosa) bacteria.
The development of this effective tool was carried out back in the 70s of the last century by Professor Krivoshein and a group of researchers from Russia and Ukraine. Due to various political events in the USSR, scientific work often stopped because of a lack of funding. Therefore, the drug was registered as a drug only in 1991.

Reviews
We picked up some reviews of people who used Miramistin:
- Catherine. Miramistin is always at hand in the bathroom. An excellent drug, I use for any reason for the whole family-cuts, wounds, stomatitis, ulcers or sores which, sore throat or even if the tooth hurts. Originally recommended to us by his doctor, when his son had chicken pox, and the rashes were even on the mucous in the mouth. Very convenient dispenser, the drug is not consumed much. A large bottle is enough for a long time. And there is no unpleasant taste, for children this is important.
- Karina. Miramistin I have been using for a long time, I liked the drug very much. Especially well helped with inflammation in the throat. But recently I bought it and was disappointed, they do not have the effect of treatment (my throat hurt), my daughter caused an allergy, I also had a throat treatment. Previously, did not cause allergies. I had an opinion that the composition of the drug has changed. Very upset. It's a pity the drug was good.
- Svetlana. Myramistin was first appointed to my daughter for the treatment of a cold. She drank the medicine for almost a week, but did not notice much improvement. Then I tried to bury it in my ears: this medicine is meant for both the nose, the ears, and, apparently, even for the eyes. I can not say that my ears hurt badly, but there was discomfort. I did not want to go to the doctor, and here's a medicine like at hand. I read the instructions and started to drip. The next day the pain almost passed, only echoes remained. A few days later my ears were in perfect order. It seems to me that the medicine still helps, but, probably, everything depends on the specific disease.

What is the difference between Miramistin and Chlorhexidine?
These drugs are similar in terms of pharmaceutical effects. However, they are not complete analogues. General properties of the preparations:
- They have high activity and effectively kill the pathogenic flora;
- Are antiseptics, i.e. are included in one pharmaceutical series.
This concludes their similarity. What is the difference? The drug does not contain chlorine in an explicit form, because it is not as aggressive as Chlorhexidine in the minimum dosage. Therefore, it is the first that is safer. In addition, it has a wider range of therapeutic effects.
So which is better? It is possible to answer unequivocally: Miramistin is better. Answering the question "What is the difference between Miramistin and Chlorhexidine?" It is worth noting:
- Less aggressiveness of the first.
- Greater opportunities for use (broader).
- Fewer contraindications and side effects.
