What is better - cream or ointment?

Conditionally it can be said that the ointment is better to use for more severe and extensive skin lesions, and the cream is suitable for the treatment of mild degrees of dermatitis. In addition, the cream absorbs into the skin faster, so if necessary, apply the drug under the clothes, it is better to choose this dosage form, but not the ointment. Also, it is preferable to use an ointment cream when treating wet areas of the skin. Advantages of the cream on the wet areas before the ointment is that it is quickly absorbed and well-dried.

People who suffer from allergies or have sensitive skin can stop choosing Tridentum because they contain only paraffin and petroleum jelly in addition to the active ingredients. In cream, as auxiliary substances, contains alcohols and other synthetic compounds that can cause an allergic reaction or sensitize the human body.

Overdose

Symptoms of overdose with Triderm can be functional disorders of the adrenal glands, which is associated with prolonged use of local GCS in a higher dosage. With the aggravation of the situation, the development of secondary adrenal insufficiency may occur until the appearance of hypercorticism.

Participation in an overdose of such constituent components of the drug as clotrimazole and gentamicin does not show any symptoms. However, when gentamicin is taken for a long time in an overestimated dosage, growth of the flora may be insensitive.

As therapeutic measures should be carried out symptomatic therapy. With acute symptoms of hypercorticism, which, as a rule, differ in their reversibility, it is necessary to correct electrolyte imbalance. It will be necessary to cancel SCS if chronic toxicity is detected.

  4. Prolonged local administration of antibiotics can sometimes lead to the growth of resistant microflora. In this case, as well as with the development of irritation, sensitization or superinfection in the background of treatment with Triderm, treatment should be stopped and appropriate therapy prescribed. There were cross-allergic reactions with aminoglycoside antibiotics.
  5. Systemic absorption of GCS or gentamicin for topical application will be higher if treatment is performed on large areas of the skin or with the use of occlusive dressings, especially with prolonged treatment or in violation of the integrity of the skin. It is necessary to avoid applying gentamicin to open wounds and to damaged skin. Otherwise, there may be side effects, characteristic of gentamicin in its systemic application. Reviews

We offer to read reviews of people who used Triderm:

  1. Sasha. At me atapichesky a dermatitis 23 years, Triderm perfectly approaches or suits in emergency situations when strong exacerbation. Quickly cleans allergy from the skin, BUT!!! guys, it is not recommended to use it on a regular basis. Allergic people need to have it in the nest on the emergency situation. And so diet, pills and more sparing analogues.
  2. Vadim. The big plus of "Triderma", in comparison with other similar preparations - complex action. With it, you do not need to use antibiotics, either with the same "Advantan" or simple "Acriderm", with which we constantly take eczema from either Metrogil, Dalacin, or Erythromycin ointment. But the downside is that for this complex you have to pay quite a lot. It happens, it is cheaper to take several medicines than one tube of "Triderma".
  3. Tatyana. Not so long ago on the temporal area of the face there was an incomprehensible speck, something like a lichen. He was at the doctor's, and after the tests he was assigned "Triderm". The medicine helped quickly, after a week already the speck passed. I liked the drug. My sister also had a similar case after six months, so she, without hesitation, took advantage of the "Triderm", and everything disappeared. He approaches many fungi.

The main drawback of the drug is the risk of serious side effects, which requires special care when applying ointment / cream, especially for children.
