With topical application indomethacin reduces the intensity of the inflammatory process, and also reduces the severity pain syndrome due to the inhibition of generation and pain impulse along the nervous structures. Indomethacin in addition to inhibiting the synthesis of prostaglandins also reduces the production of thromboxane A, which can lead to an increase in bleeding time.

When instillation of Indocollir drops into the conjunctival sac, the systemic absorption of indomethacin is insignificant. There may be some increase in the systemic absorption of indomethacin with prolonged use of high doses of Indocollir.
