pharmachologic effect
The active substance is an endogenous antioxidant that binds free radicals. Thioctic acid in the body is formed during oxidative decarboxylation of α-keto acids. It takes the form of coenzyme of mitochondrial multienzyme complexes in the oxidative decarboxylation of pyruvic acid and α-keto acids. Reduces blood glucose and increases glycogen in the baking, helps to overcome insulin resistance.
Thioctic acid regulates lipid and carbohydrate metabolism, cholesterol metabolism, improves liver function and trophic neurons. Also, when poisoning with salts of heavy metals and other intoxications, Tiogamma has a detoxifying effect.
Patients suffering from diabetes mellitus on the background of therapy improves endoneural blood flow, increases the level of glutathione to physiological indicators, which improves the functional state of peripheral nerve fibers in diabetic neuropathy.
After ingestion, the drug quickly and almost completely absorbed from the digestive tract. With simultaneous intake with food, the absorption of thioctic acid decreases. The maximum concentration of the drug is observed in half an hour after its administration. Bioavailability of the drug can vary from 30 to 60%. Passing through the liver, thioctic acid undergoes metabolism. The drug is excreted through the kidneys, the elimination half-life is 25 minutes.
Indications for use
Thiogamma in tablets or droppers is prescribed for patients for the complex treatment of polyneuropathies of various origins, in particular diabetic genesis and against the background of alcohol intoxication.

In acute overdose of the drug there is a confusion of consciousness or psychomotor agitation, accompanied, as a rule, by lactic acidosis and generalized convulsions. Cases of hemolysis, rhabdomyolysis, hypoglycemia, bone marrow depression, disseminated intravascular coagulation, multiorgan failure and shock are described.
Treatment is symptomatic. There is no specific antidote of thioctic acid.
special instructions
Before you start using the drug, read the special instructions:
- One tablet of Tiogamma 600 mg contains less than 0.0041 XE.
- Patients with rare hereditary intolerance to fructose, glucose malabsorption / galactose syndrome, or glucose isomaltase deficiency should not take Thiogamma.
- Patients with diabetes mellitus during the treatment with Thiogamma, especially at the beginning of therapy, need to monitor blood glucose levels. In some cases, it may be necessary to adjust the dose of insulin or an oral hypoglycemic drug in order to avoid the development of hypoglycemia.
- Patients taking the drug Tiogamma should refrain from drinking alcohol. Alcohol consumption during therapy with Thiogamma reduces the therapeutic effect and is a risk factor that contributes to the development and progression of neuropathy.
Interaction with other drugs
When using the drug, it is necessary to take into account the interaction with other drugs:
- Ethanol and its metabolites weaken the action of thioctic acid.
- Thioctic acid enhances the anti-inflammatory effect of GCS.
- With the simultaneous administration of thioctic acid and cisplatin, cisplatin is less effective.
- With the simultaneous use of thioctic acid and insulin or oral hypoglycemic drugs, their effect may be enhanced.
- Thioctic acid binds metals, so it should not be prescribed simultaneously with preparations containing metals (for example, preparations of iron, magnesium, calcium) - the interval between doses should be at least 2 hours.
Reviews
We offer you to familiarize yourself with the opinions of people who used the drug Tiogamma:

From diabetes I take, in the morning during a meal, Diabeton MB 60mg (there is a risk, I divide it in half, it turns out cheaper than taking 30 mg) and at night Merviform (Glucophage 1000 mg - we have 370 rubles. it is long-lasting. If you follow a diet for carbohydrates, sugar is within normal limits.
- Alexey. Against the background of my addiction to alcohol, I started polyneuropathy, my hands trembled, I began to suffer from frequent changes in mood. Doctors said that you must first recover from alcoholism, and then eliminate the consequences. At the second stage of therapy I began to take a solution of Tiogamma. He effectively copes with the problem of neuropathy, I began to sleep better.
- Larissa. From a friend in cosmetology, I heard advice: use lipoic acid in ampoules to eliminate pigmentation spots and wrinkles that begin. For a month, the spots began to fade, the skin noticeably freshened.
