The advantage of the drug is that this drug belongs to inhibitors of COX-2, which allows it do not have any negative impact on the body, act only in the field of inflammation. Unlike other similar drugs from the group of non-steroids, Movalis inhibits the aggregation of platelets.

Bioavailability of the drug, regardless of the form of release, is practically the same, but the fastest effect from the drug can be obtained by using ampoules for intravenous or intramuscular administration. Use in pregnancy and lactation

Mawalis is banned for use during pregnancy and lactation. The drug is also contraindicated for women who want to become pregnant - Movalis affects fertility.

Dosage and route of administration

The instructions for use indicate that Movalis solution is injected with a deep intravenous injection. The drug can not be administered iv. Given the possible incompatibility, Movalis I / m solution should not be mixed in the same syringe with other drugs.

In / m introduction of the drug is shown only during the first few days of therapy. Further treatment is continued with the use of oral dosage forms. The total daily dose of the drug Movalis, used in the form of different dosage forms should not exceed 15 mg.

  4. Rheumatoid arthritis: 15 mg / day. Depending on the therapeutic effect, the dose can be reduced to 7.5 mg / day.
  5. Ankylosing spondylitis: 15 mg / day. Depending on the therapeutic effect, the dose can be reduced to 7.5 mg / day.

In patients with an increased risk of adverse reactions (a history of GI disease, the presence of risk factors for cardiovascular disease), it is recommended to start treatment with a dose of 7.5 mg / day.

In patients with severe renal failure who are on hemodialysis, the dose should not exceed 7.5 mg / day.

Because the potential risk of adverse reactions depends on the dose and duration of treatment, the minimum effective dose should be given as little as possible by a short course.

Side effects

  1. The circulatory system: hypertension, tachycardia, hot flushes, swelling;
  2. Urinary system: inflammation of the kidneys, nephrotic syndrome, renal dysfunction, increased renal function, dysuria;
  3. Visual symptoms: conjunctivitis, visual disorders;
  4. The system of hematopoiesis: a decrease in the number of blood elements, changes in the leukocyte formula, anemic syndrome;
  5. Immune reactions: anaphylaxis, other manifestations of type I hypersensitivity;
  6. Nervous disorders: headache, dizziness, tinnitus, drowsiness, impaired consciousness, emotional lability;
  7. Respiratory system: bronchial asthma in the presence of allergy to non-steroidal drugs;
  8. Skin manifestations: toxic necrolysis, angio edema, bullous dermatitis, multiforme or exudative erythema, pruritus, rashes, hives, photosensitivity;

Overdose

Information on the overdose of Movalis is currently limited. Presumably, it will be accompanied by signs characteristic of overdose by other NSAIDs. Severe intoxication with the introduction of a large dose of the drug in the body can manifest symptoms such as asystole, changes in blood pressure, pain in the epigastric region, nausea, vomiting, gastrointestinal bleeding, stopping breathing, acute renal failure, drowsiness, impaired consciousness.

There is no specific antidote. In case of an overdose, evacuation of the contents of the stomach and the appointment of general maintenance therapy are recommended. The introduction of cholestyramine accelerates the excretion of meloxicam.

special instructions

  1. Movalis in ampoules is not intended for intravenous administration.
  2. It should be used with caution in accompanying diseases of the upper gastrointestinal tract, as well as in patients receiving anticoagulant therapy. In the event of a peptic ulcer or gastrointestinal bleeding, the drug should be discontinued.
  3. Particular attention should be paid to patients who have undesirable effects from the skin and mucous membranes, in such cases, consider stopping the use of the drug Movalis.
  4. With the appointment of Movalis, it is possible to develop gastrointestinal bleeding, ulcerous lesions or perforation as if there were in patients with a history of previous symptoms and episodes of similar complications from the gastrointestinal tract, and without them. In the elderly, there is a more severe course of these complications.
  5. Particularly high risk of adverse reactions in patients with dehydration, with congestive heart failure, liver cirrhosis, nephrotic syndrome and severe kidney disease, in patients receiving diuretics, as well as in those who underwent significant surgical intervention leading to hypovolemia. Such patients need careful monitoring of diuresis and renal function from the very beginning of treatment.
  6. In patients with clinically non-progressive liver cirrhosis, a dose reduction is not required.
  7. Weakened and emaciated patients can tolerate side effects more severely, such patients need careful monitoring.
  8. In rare cases, there has been a reported increase in serum transaminases or changes in other indicators that characterize liver function. In most cases, abnormalities were minor and transient. If the liver function is more pronounced or persistent, you should stop taking Movalis and take control laboratory tests.
  9. Movalis should be used with caution in elderly patients who are more likely to have impaired renal, hepatic or cardiac function. NSAIDs can help delay sodium, potassium and water and weaken the natriuretic effect of diuretics. As a result, in the presence of predisposing factors, the administration of NSAIDs can lead to progression of heart failure and hypertension.
  10. NSAIDs inhibit the synthesis of renal prostaglandins, which are involved in maintaining a sufficient level of renal blood flow. The administration of NSAIDs to patients with reduced renal blood flow and BCC can accelerate kidney decompensation, but after the withdrawal of NSAID therapy, renal function is usually restored to its previous level.

During treatment, if there is a violation of visual acuity, dizziness or drowsiness, it is necessary to refrain from driving vehicles and employment by potentially dangerous kinds of activity demanding the raised concentration of attention and speed of psychomotor reactions.

Drug Interactions

NSAIDs (including salicylates and GCS) in combination with meloxicam because of their synergism increase the risk of ulceration of the digestive canal and the development of gastric and intestinal bleeding.

Meloxicam should be avoided in combination with other NSAIDs, as well as with Methotrexate and lithium preparations.

Thrombolytic drugs, heparin for systemic use, oral anticoagulants, SSRIs and antiplatelet agents in combination with meloxicam may provoke bleeding; diuretics and blockers of AT1-subtype receptors-OPN.

NSAIDs due to suppression of vasodilating properties of Pg reduce the effect of antihypertensive drugs. In addition, the drugs of this group increase the nephrotoxicity of Cyclosporine.

Reviews

We picked up some reviews of people taking the drug Movalis:

  1. Bogdan. I treat arthrosis of the knees with these injections. Exacerbations are not often, two to three times a year, but they do happen. It's all very painful, if nothing is done. Usually I make a course of three injections, then this is enough for a few months, sometimes even for six months. Very powerful analgesic effect of the drug, the action almost immediately begins. A lot of the body is not necessary, 3 - on the strength of 5 injections is enough.
  2. Alexey. My parents got sick knee joints, so I have to take anti-inflammatory drugs twice a year. This time the doctor decided to appoint the injections of Movalis. The pain in the knee was very fast, but the gastritis was much worse. The drug did not fit. In pharmacies you can find NSAIDs that do not cause such side effects.
  3. Anna. Have appointed or nominated 3 nyxes in day, after the first in the evening in the evening has seized a stomach and has put a nose simply not to breathe, has thought has caught a cold, next day everything went away, after a second injection, gastritis became aggravated, again a nose was poured, and in the morning there was spotting and a voice disappeared from wearing. Lor was in shock - nose bleeding ulcers appeared. Urgently appointed a dropper to cleanse the body, after a third appeared voice and nose began to come to order. So draw conclusions.
