Form of issue and composition

Dioxydin has several forms of release:

  • ointment 5%;
  • Dioxydin solution (,%) for intravenous injection;
  • Dioxydin in ampoules for inhalations (5 mg) and intracavitary (1%).

A solution of Dioxydin 1 per cent is available in 10 ml glass ampoules. In 1 ml of a clear, colorless solution is 10 mg of the active ingredient dissolved in water for injection.

Dioxydin 5 mg for inhalations is produced in ampoules of 10 and 20 ml. In each milliliter of the preparation in water for injection, 5 mg of hydroxymethylquinoxaline dioxide was dissolved. Ampoules containing a solution for injection and inhalation are placed in 10 pieces in cardboard packages.

Pharmacological effect

Dioxydin is a synthetic bactericide that is used in the treatment of purulent and infectious pathologies. Usually the drug is applied externally, nevertheless, if necessary, intracavitary rinsing and intravenous administration are allowed.

Dioxydin disastically affects pathogenic cells by inhibiting the formation of DNA, without affecting the production of RNA and protein. Also, the main active substance destroys the microbiological structure (shell and nucleotides, which play an important role in the formation of intracellular energy).

The drug is widely distributed in medicine due to its effective suppression of pathogenic flora in anoxic conditions.

Indications for use

According to the instructions, Dioxydin is indicated for use in bacterial infections that are sensitive to the active component of the drug.

External application of Dioxydin is advisable in the following cases:

  1. Infected burns;
  2. Phlegmon soft tissue;
  3. Deep or superficial wounds on the body;
  4. Trophic ulcers and long-term non-healing wounds;
  5. Purulent wounds in osteomyelitis.

Intracavitary Dioxydin injection is indicated in the following cases:

  1. Peritonitis;
  2. Abscesses;
  3. Purulent pleurisy;
  4. Purulent processes in the abdominal or thoracic cavity;
  5. Biliary and urinary tract wounds;
  6. Empyema of the pleura;
  7. Wounds and phlegmon with the presence of deep purulent cavities (phlegmon phlegmon, soft tissue abscesses, purulent mastitis, postoperative wounds of the bile duct and urinary tract).

Contraindications

Dioxydin is contraindicated in:

  • individual intolerance to the drug;
  • violation of the adrenal glands;
  • pregnancy and lactation;
  • under 12 years of age.

Despite the obvious positive effect of the drug in the treatment of purulent-microbial pathologies, the high toxicity of dioxidine determined it as a reserve drug, especially with intravenous infusions.

Application in pregnancy and lactation

The influence of hydroxymethylquinoxylindioxide on the body was studied in the course of many years of research. As a result, its mutagenic and teratogenic effect was reliably established.

Women at any time of pregnancy can not be prescribed this drug, and not only intravenously or into the body cavity. Even local use in the form of ointments, compresses or drops in the nose ensures the penetration of the active substance into the bloodstream through the mucous membranes and skin. For the same reason, treatment with Dioxydin during lactation is excluded (usually a temporary transition to pumping and artificial feeding is recommended).

Instructions for use

The instructions for use indicate that most often Dioxydin is used in a stationary environment. 1% solution of the drug is usually not used for intravenous injection (due to instability of the drug when stored at low temperatures). Applied, -1% solutions, for the preparation of which the drug is diluted with water for injection or a solution of sodium chloride.

External application of Dioxydin:

  1. To prevent infection after surgery, Dioxydin is used in the form of, % solution.
  2. In the treatment of superficial infected purulent wounds, wipes soaked in a -1% solution of Dioxydin are applied to the wound. When processing deep wounds, they loosely tampon with pre-moistened in 1% solution with tampons. If there is a drainage tube, a solution of 20 to 100 ml is injected into the cavity.
  3. For the treatment of deep purulent wounds in osteomyelitis - in the form of trays with -1% solution. Less often, special treatment of the wound with the administration of the drug for 15-20 minutes, then apply a bandage with 1% Dioxydin solution. With good tolerability of the drug, treatment can be done daily for a period of -2 months.

For intracavitary administration, a catheter, syringe or drainage tube is used. In the purulent cavity, 1% solution of the drug is administered, the dose depends on the size of the cavity, usually 10-15 ml per day. Usually the drug is administered 1 time per day. The maximum daily dose is 70 ml. Treatment can be continued for three weeks or more with indications and good tolerability.

Instructions for the use of Dioxydin in the nose

Dioxydin solution is used in the presence of complicated inflammatory processes of the nasal cavity, in particular for the treatment of sinusitis, sinusitis, frontitis and other pathologies. The nasal cavity is washed with Dioxydin solution 2-3 times a day, I use a syringe for convenience.

The drug has an excellent therapeutic effect in complicated sinusitis, when other drugs, including antibiotics, are ineffective. The punctured maxillary sinuses are washed with the solution of the preparation 2-3 times a day, after which gauze turundas moistened with solution are inserted into the nasal cavity, if necessary.

Dioxin in the ear

For the treatment of otitis usually it is customary to use antibiotics and vasoconstrictors. However, in cases where they are not effective, the drug of choice is Dioxydin, a feature of which is its effectiveness against anaerobic bacteria.

Before instillation of the drug is recommended to clear the auditory canal from sulfur, using a 3% a solution of hydrogen peroxide of a cotton swab or special cotton buds (for convenience, the auricle slightly pull back). If the ear becomes heavily contaminated, the tampon with peroxide is left in it for about 5 minutes.

  1. With purulent otitis, which is often accompanied by perforation of the tympanic membrane and the release of pus, before purging from the ear canal, all purulent contents are previously removed.
  2. In otitis, Dioxydin should be administered concomitantly in the nose and into the ear canal. The solution effectively sanitizes the nasal cavity and stops the inflammatory process in it, and since the nose is connected with the eustachian tube, the removal of the inflammatory process in the nose has a beneficial effect on the situation as a whole.

The dose and the multiplicity of instillations are selected individually in each specific case and exclusively by the attending physician.

Dioxydin ointment

Used to treat purulent wounds, trophic ulcers, phlegmon, wounds in osteomyelitis, pustular skin rashes. Apply to the surface of the skin with a thin layer, purulent wounds are injected with tampons with ointment. The daily dose for adults should not be more than 2, 5 g. The duration of the application is 3 weeks.

Inhalation by nebulizer

Today the nebulizer is popular in the treatment of cough and cold. However, not all owners of a useful device know which solutions are suitable for inhalation, and which are not. What do doctors say about the use of Dioxydin in nebulizers and inhalers.

The solution can be used at home, but under strict control of the dosage of Dioxydin. Inhalations are prescribed for lung abscesses, empyema of the pleura, severe inflammation of the bronchi. Dioxydin with genyantritis, frontitis, sinusitis is rarely prescribed - with a prolonged course of the disease and the emergence of resistance (immunity) to other (weaker) drugs.

The concentrated solution is not poured into the nebulizer, it is diluted with saline solution. How to dilute Dioxydin correctly?

  • ampoules with 1% solution diluted in the ratio
  • ampoules with,% solution diluted in the ratio:.

For one inhalation will need 3 ml. What remains can be stored in the refrigerator for no more than 12 hours. The only time before inhalation Dioxydin should be removed from the refrigerator to warm it naturally. The solution can not be heated!

Side effects

Dioxydin with intracavitary injection can cause:

  • dyspeptic disorders;
  • convulsive muscle contractions;
  • allergic reactions;
  • headache;
  • chills;
  • temperature increase;
  • photosensitizing effect (the appearance of pigmented spots on the body when exposed to sunlight);
  • periarane dermatitis (with external application).

With external use, Dioxydin can cause near-dermatitis.

Overdose

Symptoms in overdose include both excessive symptoms from the list of side effects, and acute failure of the adrenal cortex function:

  1. To cope with the difficulty of synthesis of corticosteroids (stress hormones), therapy must be stopped.
  2. Against other manifestations of an overdose are selected therapeutic methods - symptomatic treatment.

It is possible to substitute hormonal therapy - in the form of a doctor-defined dose of glucocorticosteroids (normally - up to 1 mg per kilogram of the patient's weight).

special instructions

  1. The drug is prescribed only if other antibacterial drugs are ineffective, fluoroquinolones, cephalosporins II-IV generations, carbapenems.
  2. Before starting Dioxydin, a drug tolerance test must be carried out. To do this, a small volume (10ml) of 1% solution is injected into the cavity and the patient's condition is monitored for 3-6 hours. If during this time there are no side effects (chills, fever, dizziness), the drug can be used for course treatment.
  3. When pigmented spots appear, the duration of a single dose is increased up to -2 hours, the dose is reduced, dioxygen is canceled or antihistamine preparations are prescribed.

Reviews

We picked up some of the people's comments about Dioxydin:

  1. Elena. I usually use a solution of dioxidine to treat a protracted rhinitis in my child. I mix it in equal parts with aloe extract and drip twice a day. The tool is cheap and very effective. Does not overdry mucous and does not cause discomfort.
  2. Anna. Once in the early spring, I had a stuffed in the auricle. Tried to be treated by folk methods, but the disease only worsened. The doctor otallarinologist prescribed droplets of dioxygen. In this case, the doctor assured that the drug has absolutely no side effects. Having dripped the maximum dose of the drug into the auricle, I felt a burning sensation. After that, I read the instructions, and found a large number of side effects. For treatment, I reduced the dose and quickly cured the inflammation of the ear canal. I recommend this drug to everyone, but carefully read the instructions before using it.
  3. Tanya. Dioxydin is a very good medicine. I use it only for mixed drops, for the nose. With a cold that can not be cured for more than a week or two - it's an indispensable tool! To me the doctor of an ENT appointed or nominated, spoke, that even a genyantritis the mixed drops treat, it is not necessary to pierce patients with sinuses. Here's the recipe: Dioxydin 1% - 5 ml, Mezaton - 2 ml, Dexamethasone - 2 ml = all mixed in 10 cc. syringe, and 2 drops drip, 3 times a day. The nose breathes, and the runny nose goes away very quickly. The price is affordable, even very much and in all pharmacies you can find this drug.
  4. Sasha. To me, with furunculosis, Dioxydin was prescribed in ampoules, which I laid on folded in several layers of gauze, which I dipped into the printed ampoule of the solution to the place where the furuncle broke through. Doctors-surgeons said that this medicine is an antibiotic and well sucks pus. In principle, for his money, he made his front of the work and the wounds from the pus cleared quickly, faster than before, when just bandages were changed or Ichthyol ointment was applied.
