Composition and form of release

Excipients of ointment: Vaseline white, paraffin liquid (mineral oil), chlorobutanol anhydrous.

Auxiliary substances of drops: sodium sulfate anhydrous, benzalkonium chloride, tyloxapol, purified water, disodium edetate, hyethelose (hydroxyethylcellulose), sodium chloride, sulfuric acid and / or sodium hydroxide.

The medicine does not cause slowing of the restoration of the cornea of ​​the eyes, therefore it is prescribed for use in the postoperative period.

Indications for use

Tevrodex is a preparation for the treatment of the following inflammatory diseases of the eyes and their appendages caused by agents that are sensitive to active substances:

  • iridocyclitis;
  • blepharoconjunctivitis;
  • conjunctivitis;
  • keratitis;
  • blepharitis;
  • keratoconjunctivitis.

Also, the drug is used to treat and prevent inflammatory phenomena in the postoperative period after cataract extraction.

Contraindications

Tevendex has the following contraindications:

  • viral diseases of the cornea and conjunctiva (including keratitis, chicken pox and smallpox);
  • removal from the layers of the cornea of ​​the foreign body;
  • tuberculosis of the eye;
  • fungal lesions of the eyes;
  • hypersensitivity to components;
  • age to 18 years.

In addition, Tevrex should not be used during pregnancy and during breastfeeding (lactation).

Intended use for pregnancy and lactation

The drug is not recommended for use during pregnancy and during breastfeeding. In the treatment of women of childbearing age, a pregnancy should be initially excluded before conservative treatment.

Dosage and route of administration

As indicated in the instructions for use, Tevodex is applied topically (in the conjunctival sac).

Eye drops

Recommended dosage regimen: 1-2 drops every 4-6 hours.

In the first 2 days of therapy, the frequency of application can be increased (every 2 hours), then gradually, as the degree of inflammation decreases, the frequency is reduced to the standard.

In the treatment of acute severe infectious process, the following dosing regimen is shown (single dose - 1-2 drops):

  • until the severity of the condition decreases: every 60 minutes;
  • for 3 days: every 2 hours;
  • for 5-8 days: every 4 hours.

If necessary, the course can be continued for another 5-8 days.

With a preventive purpose in the postoperative period, Tevreks is prescribed 1 drop 4 times a day. Therapy starts from the day of surgery, the course duration is 24 days. The total duration of the course does not change in cases when the use of the drug is started 1 day before the operation. If necessary, during the first 2 days after surgery, a single dose can be increased to 2 drops, the frequency of application - every 2 hours.

Before use, the vial with droplets should be shaken.

To reduce the likelihood of systemic adverse reactions (by reducing systemic absorption of the drug), after instillation of Teborex it is recommended for 1-2 minutes to easily press a finger at the inner corner of the eye into the area of ​​the projection of lacrimal sacs.

Eye Ointment

A single dose of ointment - a strip 1.5 cm long, multiplicity of application - 3-4 times a day. As the intensity of the process decreases, the frequency of application is reduced.

Side effects

Usually the drug is well tolerated. Side effects are observed in rare cases:

  1. Allergic reactions: redness and swelling of the face, itching of the skin and rashes on the skin.
  2. Other reactions: headache, dizziness, bitter taste in the mouth, vomiting, nausea, spasm of the larynx, discharge from the nose.
  3. Local reactions: burning and itching, redness of the conjunctiva, sensation of foreign body in the eye, edema of the conjunctiva, dryness eye or lacrimation, inflammation of the cornea, increased intraocular pressure, reduced visual acuity. In isolated cases, cataracts, glaucoma, photophobia and mydriasis (dilated pupils) developed.

An infection caused by microorganisms that are insensitive to Tevomycin may also develop.

Overdose

With proper dosing of eye drops, Tevodex overdose develops extremely rarely. When using the drug for a long time and in large doses, signs of overdose are expressed by an increase in the side effects described above, headache, impaired vision.

In the case of an overdose of the drug, treatment is immediately stopped and sought medical help. Treatment of an overdose is symptomatic.
