Description and structure

Trutovik birch (Piptoporus betulinus) a kind of annual mushroom-parasites, growing on birches. Basically, it affects old, weakened and dry trees, but sometimes occurs on healthy ones. The name of the fungus is explained as follows: earlier it was made of flammable tinder material, which allowed not only to kindle a fire from one spark, but also to transport fire for long distances.

The fruiting body of the fungus is devoid of legs and is a hemisphere with a diameter of up to 20 cm and a height of up to 6 cm. The young tinder has a light gray hue, and the adult mushroom gradually darkens, dyed in gray-brown tones. The lower part of the python is similar to a sponge, eventually changing the color from white to dirty brown. For this reason, the fungus is called not only a pythonaceous and tindery, but also a birch sponge.

The age of the tinder can be recognized by the shape of the fruit body: the young fungi are similar to the spherical mushrooms, and the adult specimens are a slightly flattened hoof. The fungus of the fungus is white, dense, with a characteristic unobtrusive odor. With age it becomes stiff and hard. The pulp accounts for the bulk of the fruit area.

Important! Trutovik reproduces spores, which are also painted white.

This mushroom parasite (see the photo as it looks) has a very wide distribution zone, because it grows on one of the most typical trees in Russia. Trutovik occurs almost everywhere, except for steppes and tundra. He loves a damp, protected from the light terrain, so it grows not only in shaded forests, but also near swamps and other water bodies. Avoid only young and roadside trees.

Therapeutic properties of birch mushroom

Useful properties of the tinder were noticed by a man several hundred years ago. Modern medicine confirms its beneficial effect on the body and the immune system in general, so it is used as a raw material for drugs that help:

  • cope with gastrointestinal problems and constipation;
  • to strengthen the immune system and the health of the nervous system;
  • to lose those extra pounds;
  • heal cuts and wounds;
  • to stop the reproduction of cancer cells and benign formations.

This became possible due to the rich chemical composition, which turned the birch mushroom into a real storehouse of vitamins and nutrients:

  1. The fetus's fruiting body is a valuable source of polysaccharides that can stop the growth of cancer cells and enhance antiviral protection.
  2. Birch fungus extract is known for its ability to relieve inflammation and pain.

Keep the piptoporus best dried: cut into pieces 1 cm wide and leave for a while. Usually the drying process is completed quickly enough. Keep the blanks in a glass container or paper bag in a place inaccessible to light.

What is dangerous for a tinder for birches

The role of birch fungus in the ecosystem can not be estimated only as positive or negative. It promotes the decomposition of wood, which turns into a nutrient humus. At the same time, it refers to parasites, so the question arises: what harm does the fungus bring to the birch tree?

He eats vital wood for cellulose. In addition, it releases hazardous substances for birch, destroying the bark and penetrating deep into the wood. Trutovik, living on the birch, affects it from the inside, which leads to the inevitable death of the tree, because it is impossible to cure it. After the appearance of the fruit body, the tree remains only to cut and burn the uprooted stump.

Thus, birch and mushroom tinder are not equal neighbors. The tree gives the right to life to the pythopeptus, and he slowly kills it.

What is dangerous for man

Pythonus refers to inedible fungi, but not dangerous to humans. It is not used for food because of a bitter and extremely unpleasant taste. However, there is a so-called false tartar birch, which not only can not be eaten, but also used for economic purposes.

The danger of this species is that it is easy to confuse with chaga. Only specialists can distinguish it from an inedible mushroom. In general terms, the difference consists in a geometrically distinct form and a bright coloration of a false tinder. Against the backdrop of his birch fellow, he stands out graphite black.

Attention! The flesh of the inedible species has a dirty-brown tint, so it is easy to distinguish it from a useful python, whose flesh is colored white.

Contraindications

Useful properties of the tinder were evaluated by both practicing doctors and ordinary people. At the same time, it does not have an absolutely harmless composition and can cause serious damage to health. Use of python is prohibited in the following cases:

  • pregnancy and lactation;
  • rehabilitation after cavitary operations;
  • severe form of colds;
  • age up to 12 years.

Important! Taking medicines based on birch mushrooms is possible only after consulting a specialist. Excessive dosage is fraught with vomiting and poisoning.

Equally responsible should be taken to the use of alcoholic tinctures. They are a good addition to the main treatment, but can not completely replace it. Birch tinder has a lot of vitamins and nutrients, but requires an extremely careful approach to use.
