  3. Dextrose. Monosaccharide, which gives the necessary energy for metabolism and has an antitoxic effect.

The preparation can be purchased by the piece or by whole packing. In the home medicine cabinet there should be several on-duty bags of the drug.

pharmachologic effect

Regridron powder is referred to as rehydrating agents for oral administration, whose action is aimed at restoring the acid-base balance of the blood. The drug is prescribed as part of rehydration therapy with the appearance of dehydration.

The content of sodium chloride in the finished solution is slightly lower than that of similar agents, which helps to reduce osmolarity preparation and better assimilation of salts, and the concentration of potassium chloride is higher, which helps to remove the symptoms of hypernatremia.

Glucose in the form of dextrose promotes better absorption of salts of electrolytes.

Indications for use

What helps? Regidron powder is used in those cases when it is necessary:

  • restore the balance of water and electrolytes and correct acidosis with diarrhea of an acute nature, for example, in the development of cholera;
  • with a thermal shock;
  • for preventive purposes, in the presence of high physical or thermal loads leading to excessively increased sweat separation;
  • Conducting rehydration therapy in a state of mild to moderate body weight loss due to acute diarrhea.

As well as adults, children Regiodron appoint when there is a threat of dehydration, including vomiting and diarrhea, which are a consequence of gastrointestinal infections, as well as in situations where dehydration develops against a background of heat stroke.

However, if the child's chair is watery, and there are bloody impurities in it, the body temperature rises above 39 ° C, the child looks drowsy, sluggish and exhausted, he stopped urinating, there was a sharp pain in the abdominal cavity, and diarrhea and vomiting occur more often five times a day, you need to urgently consult a doctor.

Dosage and route of administration

As indicated in the instructions for use, patients should be weighed before beginning treatment to assess weight loss and the degree of dehydration. Nutrition or breastfeeding should not be interrupted during oral rehydration therapy or should be continued immediately after rehydration. It is recommended to avoid foods rich in fats and simple carbohydrates.

To prevent dehydration, you should start taking Regidron as soon as diarrhea has started. Usually the drug is used no more than 3-4 days, treatment stops with the end of diarrhea. If diarrhea continues, after correction of dehydration, it is desirable to administer Regidron or water for 24 hours according to the following scheme:

How to take Regidron to children?

Before starting treatment, the child should be weighed to assess the degree of dehydration and weight loss.

Nutrition or breastfeeding during the use of the drug is not interrupted or resumed immediately after rehydration. During treatment in the diet should not be rich in simple carbohydrates and food fats.

The use of the drug begins as soon as the child begins diarrhea. Treatment, like in adults, lasts 3-4 days, before the normalization of the stool.

In the first ten hours, Regidron for children should be used at a dose of 30-60 ml / kg (taking into account the degree of dehydration). The average dose for a child is 2-3 tbsp. spoon for one kilogram of body weight. When the symptoms of dehydration decrease, the dose can be reduced to 10 ml / kg.

Newborn infants and young children during the first four to six hours give a medication of 5-10 ml every five to ten minutes.

When vomiting, the baby should be given a chilled solution.

An important rule of rehydration therapy for gastrointestinal infections is the lack of abundant drinking and food. If a child asks for food, preference should be given to low-fat, light foods.

Side effect

When the recommended doses are observed, side effects are unlikely. Allergic reactions are potentially possible.

Overdose

If an excessively large amount of solution is taken, or if an excessively concentrated solution is used, the probability of developing hypernatremia, manifestations of which are drowsiness, weakness, neuromuscular excitation, confusion, coma, stopping breathing.

In patients with decreased renal function, there is a risk of developing metabolic alkalosis (neuromuscular excitation, tetanic convulsions, reduced ventilation) and hyperkalemia.

In case of a severe overdose with marked signs of metabolic alkalosis or hypernatremia, stop taking the drug. Further treatment is prescribed based on the results of laboratory tests.

special instructions

Children should use other solutions with a lower sodium content and osmolarity.

Given the composition of the drug, caution should be exercised in patients with diabetes mellitus, a violation liver or kidney function, as well as in patients who follow a diet low in salt (sodium and / or potassium).

In patients with diabetes mellitus, renal insufficiency and some other chronic diseases, diarrhea can cause a significant disruption of the balance of fluid or glucose. In this regard, the treatment of diarrhea in such patients may require laboratory monitoring and hospitalization. If the patient's need for additional electrolyte administration is not confirmed by laboratory tests, the recommended dose of the drug should not be exceeded.

Severe dehydration (loss of body weight> 10%, discontinuation of urine output) should be treated with iv reconstitution preparations, after which it is allowed to begin using the Regidron solution.

If necessary, / in the administration of drugs or with severe dehydration or severe vomiting, with a decrease or discontinuation of urine output, use Regidron with caution.

When vomiting should wait for 10 minutes after the end of the attack of vomiting and give a drink of the solution slowly, in small sips.

The patient should consult a doctor if, during the use of Regidron, the following situations occur:

  • Slow speech, irritability, rapid fatigue, drowsiness, stupor;
  • the temperature rises above 39 ° C;
  • bloody stools;
  • incessant vomiting;
  • Diarrhea lasts more than 2 days;
  • severe pain in the abdomen.

With diarrhea that develops with cholera and a number of other serious intestinal infections, the use of the Regidron solution to compensate for the loss of electrolytes may not be enough.

Persons with renal insufficiency or a diet low in potassium should take into account that the preparation contains potassium.

Interaction with other drugs

Interaction with other drugs has not been studied.

The solution of the preparation has a slightly alkaline reaction, so it can affect the drugs, the absorption of which depends on the pH of the contents of the intestine.

Diarrhea itself can alter the absorption of many drugs that are absorbed in a thin or the large intestine, or drugs in the metabolism of which there is intestinal hepatic circulation

How to make analogue of "Regidron" independently?

Solutions of oral rehydration salts are a mixture of water, sugar and salt. Therefore, they can be dissolved with their own hands. When the drug has suddenly ended, you can make it an analogue at home, and then buy the powder in the pharmacy. The classical composition of the "home" mixture is as follows: liter of roomed boiled water, 20-30 g. sugar, 3 g. table salt, 2 g. soda. After three years, half the water is replaced with a decoction of carrots and raisins (replenish the balance of potassium).

Almost the same prescription is given by Dr. Komarovsky in his reference book "Emergency Care":

  • boiled water - liter;
  • baking soda - 1 tsp;
  • table salt - 1 tsp;
  • sugar-2 tsp

The first day after the poisoning should only vypaivat baby "Regidron" and give another liquid. When vomiting stops, the child can be offered to eat crackers, drink a diluted apple juice or compote of dried fruits. Later it is worth preparing a rice broth, a liquid porridge on the water, to offer half a banana. Do not need the first 5-7 days after the illness to give sharp, fatty, smoked dishes, dairy products. If you feel better, you need a doctor's control in two days.

Shelf life and storage conditions

Regidron has a strict shelf life of 3 years. After this period, the solution for treatment is contraindicated from the powder. Keep the bags of powder in a place inaccessible to children at room temperature.

The prepared solution can be stored for a day in the refrigerator.
